DESIGNING MOVEMENT: An Aesthetic Investigation of Motion in Product Design
"S"
These pieces were made for a television commercial. I was commissioned by a graphic artist to create 8 sculptures, one for each letter in the word "simplify." When shot next to each other, the works would assemble into a legible whole. The idea was to combine filmed footage of these pieces with graphic animation.
Rather than develop a compact kinetic vocabulary for the series, I chose to employ a broad variety of mechanical techniques to achieve greater interest and impact. I relied on material choices and pacing of elements to achieve continuity across the series.
The project unfortunately fell apart before I could complete the letter "M" sculpture.
