DESIGNING MOVEMENT: An Aesthetic Investigation of Motion in Product Design
Light
This sketch is a study for a lampshade. I imagined a shade that would open to emit more light, and I combined that concept with a dimmer switch. This combination created a “dual event” in which the level of light output increases while the shade is physically allowing more light to escape. In this way, the kinetic action of the shade reinforces the functionality of the light to create a unified light-emitting aesthetic element.
